September In 2012-- Reflection in technology skills improvement

On the other hand, it contains the most technical practice through the project, graphic design software, such as Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Illustrator are the most frequently tools. To achieve the goal of master level, I also use the Dreamweaver to create a simplified website. It is worth to mention about the improvement of Illustrator, I learnt it just around two weeks, it is the weakness link in previous practice, no matter in skill and inspiration, though there is much more room for progress in the future, I have already improve quite a lot at present. I would like to present more practice of skills in my final project, I create a magazine, in addition it is also attached with a website and poster to publicity my magazine. It is not just a promotion method, but also put forward higher requirements in actual skill operation. As a master student, I cannot just be satisfied with local design, I need take all considerations as a director. Screen Cultures pay more attention in inspiration and ideas, after overcoming the one-sidedness, I take a big step forward in my field. I should stand in the point of view as an audience to consider and arrange content, and combine it with professional design skill and management ability. Treat my project as a comprehensive problem is also an requirement to reach the goal of master level.

September In 2012-- Reflection In Concept and Inspiration improvement

According to the practice of creating an artefact for major study final project, both the process and results are truly spectacular. In general it can be divided into two sections: conceptual and technical.

In the initial period, I made the decision to create magazine related to screen technology, through the suggestion and direction in tutorial, I took the digital magazine into consideration. It means I need extend the field for research. How to create a flexible magazine for both physical and digital form, it is a big challenge during the process of my entire project.  On account of the first experience to design a complete magazine from the topic, articles, design style, and contact the digital magazine field, I should get rid of the old-fashioned concept in memory and search for the new inspiration. I combined science and technology with fashion style magazine, I produced popular science and add fashion-style poster including in my magazine to attract a wider range of readers. If I just introduce the professional science and technology or advanced studies in screen field, my project will be recognized extremely boring especially in digital filed, how the attract audiences’ mind at the first sight is the key to success. Meanwhile I create a funny time travel story in my magazine, it is also a bright spot from my brain storm. No matter in the design or content, flexible to two different forms is the largest improvement through my whole project.

It is a short instruction of Quark DesignPad applications specific for iPad, it is simply to create a magazine in iPad. According to this software, people will strength the concept of iPad magazine.

It was announced to create a revolution in publishing of iPad in last year. It happens that the similar case that iPod bring to music. Wired is one of the most successful iPad magazine. " The first edition in June 2010 sold 100,000 copies. The circulation is now down to 25,000. That's good compared to other though. Vanity Fair and GQ sell just 10,000 copies each month, and Glamour just 3,000 copies." People always be curious about fresh things, but how to keep the sales volume without the freshness, that should be a question.

No matter for traditional or digital magazine, audiences always the " God". A delicately packed printing magazine or a good design digital magazine, both of them have the same goal: catch readers' mind. People can easily find the website of a digital magazine, but you need give them a compelling reason to click and open it. The advertisement of digital magazine is quite important and seems like a big challenge at present. If you receive a poster or advertisement in you mailbox, at least you will look at it even you want to throw it to your rubbish bin, however if it is an email advertisement to you mailbox, maybe you will delete it at once or automatic clearing as a junk mail. 

According to the current situation, it should be create both in physical and digital for same magazine. They can provide the supplement to each other. With the maturity of science and technology, digital magazine maybe plain the traditional printing magazine.
